New research suggest that people living during the Stone Age were lactose intolerant. I wonder if we need to check with the 'Geico Caveman' about this one.
guess prehistoric man did not believe in the marketing slogan,” Milk makes the body good."
The study was led by Joachim Burger of the Institute of Archaeology at Mainz University in Germany.
The findings support the idea that milk drinkers became widespread in Europe only after dairy farming had become established there—not the other way around.
This study was based on DNA collected from Central European people from around 5800 B.C. to 5200 B.C.
Of course, as with all studies, there seems to be a great deal to discuss on if this was in fact the case that Stone Age man could not drink milk. It appears the prehistoric community was split on this. Some could tolerate milk and others could not. This would come to be an advantage for those who could, because when food was not abundant, you could always drink milk.
